When should I use ad-hoc messages vs automatic notifications?

Automatic notifications are templated messages Service Buddy sends on its own when something happens (an invoice is sent, a payment received, a job is upcoming). Ad-hoc messages are what you type from a client record — schedule confirmations, “your flooring just arrived” updates, follow-ups. Use automatic for predictable touchpoints, ad-hoc for everything else.

Email or text — what’s better for clients?

Texts tend to be opened faster; email is better for longer content and attachments. Most retailers send the original document (quote, invoice, install confirmation) by email and follow up by text if there’s no response. Pick whichever fits the urgency and the client’s stated preference.

When’s the right time to ask for a review?

One to two days after the install is complete. Long enough that the client has walked on the new floor, short enough that the experience is still fresh. See Request a review.

Where does the review actually go?

To whatever URL you’ve configured — typically your Google Business Profile (highest local-search value). Some retailers also link to Yelp, Facebook, or industry-specific review sites. See Manage review responses.

Can I send the same review request to a list of clients at once?

Not in a single batch — review requests go one client at a time. For broader review pushes, send them sequentially over a week so each one gets attention.

How do I track which clients haven’t been contacted recently?
